Rollin right along...

In case you weren't aware, Brady rolled over 3 times last night!  We did video the second roll.  It's a long video (a little over 5 minutes long) so if you don't want to watch it all you can just fast forward to about 4:15.  That's when it starts to get really good.  I'll give you the summary of what you will miss.  He cries, farts once, sneezes and raises his head up multiple times.  If you want to be entertained, or you have 5 minutes to spare, please sit back and enjoy a huge milestone in this little guys life!

P.S. = not sure, but we think he's a little advanced for rolling over at 5 weeks...

I got a lot of catching up to do.  I am aware I skipped like 6 months, we've been busy...  I will recap everything a.s.a.p.

weeks away (maybe)...

So in a matter of just WEEKS (maybe), I will be a father (definitely).  Pretty crazy to think.  Just the other day it hit me while I was driving to work, "I won't be driving to work without being a dad for much longer."  I really feel like I'm ready to take on being a Dad!  There are so many thoughts going through my mind!  What will he look like?  What will he be when he grows up?  Will he really catch for the Baltimore Orioles?  Will he love to fish and hunt like me?  Will he think I'm a little funny or just stupid and corny?  (Corny for sure)  I'm still a little scared to change diapers but I really can not wait for him to get here.  I can feel myself changing already as far as worrying about me goes.  I want everything for him to be perfect.  I KNOW his nursery is perfect but as for everything else I guess time will tell...  It's kind of one of those things where we're going to dive in head first and hope we come out OK.  I know that there are going to be really hard times.  I know that I'm going to want to headbutt him every now and then.  I also know that there are going to be times when I'm so proud of him it brings me to tears.  I really do look forward to them all.  I know this for sure, Brady is going to be one very loved little boy.  I just gotta remember that if I mess everything up too bad, Carly will save me.  A ton my my friends and family have had babies and they seem to be doing OK, right???
These past couple of weeks, I have been trying really hard to leave all the bull about work at work.  I feel like I have done a pretty good job at it too.  It's hard sometimes but I know that the least important thing in the world right now is how aggravated I am with my job.  Bottom line, very few people love everything about their job.  I am not one of them.  I am really not one of them.

Everything is going to start getting really busy in Houston and honestly, I can not wait.

Brady will be making his facebook/blog debut very soon.  Hang on, I got a feeling it's going to be worth the wait!

getting close now...

Yep, so the day is quickly approaching when we will get to meet our son.  This week it got really real, really quick.  We had our hospital tour last week, childbirth class twice this week and our last ultrasound on Thursday.   Everything looked great on the ultrasound and the major news it that at 36 weeks, he weighed close to 7 pounds...  Yep, pretty big boy apparently.  Could he be headed to the Big House to play for Michigan instead of catching for the Baltimore Orioles???  Only time will tell, either one will be OK though.  I have already practiced announcing his name, number and position though.  Both career paths sound pretty good.

I really can't describe the feeling of looking at a tv screen and seeing Brady moving inside of Carly's stomach.  We found out that he really likes to hear his own heartbeat too...  I have so many emotions going through my head right now.  The main one is excited though.  Scared is also in there but I'm thinking that particular emotion is always in a first time parent's mind.  I just can't wait till he's here.  Maybe it will be sooner than we first thought too!

So I don't forget...

Small, funny story for everyone...

On Friday when I first got to school, I saw one of my students (now in 9th grade and about 6 foot 4) that I taught my first year down here.  I shook his hand and talked about dumb stuff.  He's a wide receiver on his high school team.  It's pretty awesome to keep up with different kids that I have taught in the past.  Anyway, when I got down to my office I couldn't stop thinking that something just didn't seem right about our conversation.  For about 5 minutes, I couldn't figure it out.  Then out of nowhere, it hit me.  I immediately got up from my desk and went to the front to see if he was still sitting there, he was and here's where the fun began...

I asked him where he got his sweatshirt.  It was the first one of its kind that I have EVER see anyone wear in Houston, Texas.  This is because it said FROSTBURG STATE UNIVERSITY on it.  Yep, that Frostburg.  (The one in the mountains of Western Maryland.  The one where I played baseball.  The one where I met my wife.  The one were it snows 9 months a year!)  He looked at me puzzled for about 5 seconds and then he knew that I had him.  This kid was actually wearing a Frostburg State University sweatshirt, with camo lettering, in front of me, back to the place where he had originally stolen it 5 years ago, FROM ME and I caught him.  His reply to me was, "My uncle gave it to me."  That's when I decided to have a little fun.  The following is an exact transcript to our conversation, well close:

-How did your uncle get it?
-I'm not sure...
-It weird cause that's where I went to college!
-Really???
-Yes.  I played baseball there.
-Cool.
-Do you know where Frostburg is?
-No, where?
-Maryland.
-Oh.
-I'm from Maryland.
-Cool.
-I met my wife there.
-Wow.  Is it cold there? (smiles)
-Yes it is (straight face... no smiling)
-Cool.
-Well, it's just weird cause there's not many people that live here that went to Frostburg.  Two of them live in my house! (3 if you count Camden)
-Yeah.
-Well, you have a nice day man.  I really like your hoodie.
-Thanks Mr. Baugher.

I was blown away by this exchange.  By the look of the sweatshirt, I'm surprised I didn't catch him sooner.  It appeared as if he only took it off one day a week to be washed.  As a parent, when your child brings home a piece of clothing that's not theirs, wouldn't you say something?

Friday morning was hilarious.

Big game today in Baltimore.  I know a LOT of Ravens fans so, take it easy on us today and Go Texans!

This year is going to be GREAT

Yep, it's 2012.  2011 was pretty good to the Baugher family however, 2012 is going to be pretty special.  In just over a month, Carly and I will welcome someone new into the family.  We can not wait for him to get here!  Not that I know for sure, but I think we're as ready as we can be for him!  I'm sure other great stuff will happen this year too, but for now, I can't get baby off my mind.

holiday time

Just wanted to do a quick little post before we're outta MD and back to reality.  Another post will come with a bunch of stuff that we did over the holiday soon, that said, it was so great seeing the people that we have been able to see and getting to spend so much quality time with our families!  We miss and love them so much.  It's strange to think that the next time we're in MD, we will have a son!  I am so excited to be a father and so excited to be parents with (I'm bias) the best soon-to-be mother in the world.  So much is going to change in 2012.  Bring it on, I'm ready for the ride of my life.

THUNDERSTORMS

It has taken me a couple days to feel as if I can write about this.  I think I'm ready now...

On Sunday night, Carly and I did some work in Brady's room (pictures to follow soon and it is AWESOME), watched Homeland and went to bed.  Per my usual, after about 3 or 4 minutes (during Dexter even), I was asleep.  Then out of nowhere, around 2:00 in the morning I was woken up.  I saw a 41 pound beagle lab standing on my head.  He was literally doing this.  Front legs on the right of my head, back legs on the left of my head.  He immediately started licking me and for me to say that he had morning breath would be an enormous understatement.  I was so confused as to what in the hell Camden was doing, then I got it.  I heard thunder outside and heard the rain hitting the window.  Camden was scared of the thunderstorm.  He has always hated thunderstorms but apparently he got soft due to the lack of rain in Houston this summer.  He was a wreck.  I was pissed.  How dare he wake me from my deep sleep on my Target memory foam pillow!  Then I laughed because it was kinda funny looking at him shaking and panting because of the storm.  I suppose I better get used to the 2:00 am wake up calls with a little boy on the way.  Maybe I can convince Carly to take those, I'll take the 5:00 am ones...
